Gathering of the OHS classes of 1953, 1954, and 1955

A no-host gathering of the Orofino High School classes of 1953, 1954, and 1955, and other graduates who still admit they are Maniacs, will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20-21, at the Orofino Golf and Country Club.

Saturday schedule

Graduates will meet upstairs at the golf club house at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 (a use fee of $150 will be pro-rated). Please bring finger foods. The bar will be open.  There will be a pitch, putt and wiffle ball long drive contest. At 4 p.m. will be socializing, and then pizza from the Pizza Factory. at 4:45 p.m. Pizza will be delivered and the cost pro-rated.

Sunday schedule

On Sunday, Aug. 31, there will be a Sunday brunch at the Ponderosa Restaurant at 9:30 a.m.

Wilbur “Monk” Montgomery, 94, Orofino

Orofino Maniacs are saddened to hear of the passing today of beloved Idaho HS Athletics Hall of Fame High School Basketball Coach and long-time Orofino High School teacher and administrator Wilbur "Monk" Montgomery, 94. Monk taught and coached generations of Maniacs. Basketball, teaching kids how to wrap bandages (Health/First Aid), being a kind, understanding but firm leader for young people and volunteering for the OCI Lumberjack Days Logging Show were definitely some of his most notable contributions. What an amazing legacy he has left. Maniac Nation mourns the loss of such an amazing part of our history but will be forever grateful for the impression Monk left upon us all. Our deepest sympathies go to his Family. WE LOVE YOU, MONK! "ONCE A MANIAC -- ALWAYS A MANIAC"

A message from Monk's granddaughter, Holly (Morford) Christensen:

It's with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my very dear grandpa Monk. He lived a very long & happy life of 94 years. He has touched many lives & will be missed by many. He has had a huge impact on my life, and has given me a strong example of who I strive to be. I am grateful for all the priceless memories that I have to hold on to.

On behalf of my family, I'd like to thank the community of Orofino Maniacs, for celebrating his life. He would be honored to hear the wonderful things that have been shared. Thank you!

The Orofino High School Class of 1990 will hold a 25-Year Class Reunion during the Clearwater County Fair and Lumberjack Days, September 18, 19 & 20, 2015. There will be a gathering of the class the early evening of Friday, September 18th (Location TBA) as well as planned participation in Saturday's Lumberjack Days Parade.

Any 1990 classmates are welcomed and encouraged to attend as well as former OES, OJHS & OHS Teachers & Staff, with a special invitation extended to family members of 1990 Classmates who have passed away.

Dear 1979 Classmates,


There is no sense asking anyone if you can believe that it is time for our 30th class reunion. The years have passed way too quickly and here we are again. Several of us met and made plans for a simple, yet fun get together, to share and remember old times and catch up on what has been going on in every ones lives since we last met.

The reunion is set for the weekend of July 17 and 18th 2009. The events will begin on Friday with an afternoon on the reservoir, followed by an informal gathering at the Brass Rail Banquet room. On Saturday morning if you feel like getting up bright and early you can join in on the golf scramble at the Orofino Golf and Country Club. Then Saturday evening we’ll have a group picture, dinner and dancing and fun for all.
